I love night photography!
Especially in an urban environment things change a lot if the natural light disappears and the artificial lights take control. Ugly industrial areas or building sites turns into an illuminated spaceport at night; and with longtime exposures a boring highway becomes a colorful lindworm.
The traditional time-slot for night photography is not at night but in the evening after sunset so called „twilight hour“. The sky isn’t yet black but dark blue which gives a nice contrast to the warm yellow artificial lights. But don’t be to fixated to what the others generally do. Try different locations on different hours; or the same location at different hours; or different locations at the same hour…
Just try it. After a short time of „try and error“ you will get fantastic results. All you need is a stable tripod for your camera and (in winter) a cap and some gloves for you…
